Gbenro Adesina
A foremost scholar of Diaspora and Transnational Studies, Dr Samuel Senayon Olaoluwa, clocks 50 on October 26, 2021.
A proud Ogu man, Olaoluwa had his Secondary School education at Stephen’s Commercial High School, Ado-Odo, where he obtained the West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1988.
He obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons) in English from the then Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University), Ago-Iwoye in 1997, and Master of Arts (MA) in English from the prestigious University of Ibadan in 2003.
He later trained for his PhD in African Literature at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa between 2006 and 2009.
Dr Olaoluwa was the pioneer Coordinator of the programme in Diaspora and Transnational Studies in the Institute of African Studies (IAS), University of Ibadan. He is currently the Acting-Director of the IAS.
He has published widely in both local and international journals and is a recipient of several fellowships and awards, including the DAAD fellowship, and the African Humanities Program Postdoctoral Fellowship,
Dr. Samuel Senayon Olaoluwa is happily married to Dr. Esther Onoisedeba Senayon, and they are blessed with beautiful children.
