Jeremy Wisten a former player for Manchester City academy, passed away on Sunday October 25, 2020 at the age of 17.
He reportedly took his own life due to depression after being released by Manchester City.
Jeremy played at clubs including Altrincham Juniors and De La Salle before signing for Man City’s Under 13 Elite Squad in 2016 where he was a highly-promising centre back.
Manchester City confirmed the youngster’s tragic death on Twitter on Sunday evening.
“The Manchester City family are saddened to learn of the passing of former Academy player Jeremy Wisten,” they said.
“We send our deepest condolences to his friends and family. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.”
Jeremy was born in Lilongwe to Malawi parents. The family settled in England when he was one year old.
Tributes have been pouring in, most especially on the social media, as his former team mates, friends and family are yet to come to terms with his sudden demise.
