A 22- year-old man, Ayokunbi Olaniyi, who was alleged to have had sex with pigs has been arraigned before Iyaganku Chief Magistrate.
Olaniyi, living at Elewi – Odo Area, Iwo Road, Ibadan, who was arraigned today for engaging in bestiality around 4pm on April 2, 2020, was charged with one count of unnatural offence.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Opeyemi Olagunju, informed the court that the accused was working in a pig farm at Elewi Odo Area of Ibadan belonging to one Mrs Adenike Taiwo.
The offence, according to the Prosecution Counsel, contravened the provisions of Section 214 (2) of the Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State 2000.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Mumin Jimoh, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms arguing that the owner of the pig has forgiven the defendant.
Granting the bail application in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties, the Chief Magistrate Olaide Amzat noted that because the owner of the pig that was raped had forgiven the accused did not mean that God and the pig that was violated has forgiven him.
He added, “The law must take its cause”, and adjourned the case to July 21 for hearing.
