Ms Idowu Gobir has dragged her ex-husband, Ibrahim Aliyu, before the Area Court, Ilorin demanding that the court should mandate her ex-husband to be fully responsible for their two children’s school fees and pay a monthly allowance of N40,000 for their feeding and upkeep.
In response to her request, the ex-husband, who told the court that he could only afford N20,000 monthly for the upkeep, also demanded an order from the court that would guarantee free access to his daughters.
He further demanded from the court to allow him to change the school of the children to the one he could afford its school fees and notified the court that he should be allowed to pay the children’s school fees directly to the school.
The ex-wife objected to the request of the father pointing out that she could not allow her ex-spouse to change the children’s school to a substandard school. She also said that she was not prepared to allow the man free access to his children.
He said that the father can only have access to his children except on request and at a meeting point.
In his ruling, the presiding Judge, AbdulQadir Ibrahim, ruled that the ex-husband has a right to have access to his children under the law as long as he pays the bills of the children.
Adjourning the case to March 5, 2023, for further hearing, Ibrahim urged the applicant to get the services of a lawyer to prove her case.
