The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued a five-year-old girl, Miracle Yakubu, and arrested a 46-year-old male suspect, Nawaisi Abdullahi, for her alleged abduction.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh explained, “On Sunday, January 19, 2025, at about 10:00 am, Police operatives from Utako Division, in collaboration with local vigilantes, swiftly responded to a distress call involving a man who was seen walking with a little girl minor along the Mobil Filling Station by Jabi Expressway towards an unknown destination.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had taken the child without the consent of her mother, a local vendor selling bean cakes (Akara) in Utako Village. Upon intervention, the Police immediately took custody of the suspect and ensured the safe return of the child to her family.
“The suspect is currently in Police custody as further investigations are ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances of the incident.
“The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Olatunji Disu, emphasizes the Command’s commitment to the safety and security of all residents and encourages them to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to police.
