The Minister of Steel Development, Shuaibu Audu has revealed that the Federal Government would begin technical audit of the Ajaokuta Steel Company located in Kogi State.
Audu revealed this yesterday during the ministry 2025 budget defence at the National Assembly Joint Committee on Steel Development, pointing out that the government is trying its best to ensure that the company start operation again.
Audu said the technical audit would pave the way for the rehabilitation, completion and operation of the steel plant and the National Iron Ore Mining Company (NIOMCO).
Already, the government signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the original builders of the Ajaokuta Steel Plant Messrs, Tyazhpromexport (TPE) and members of their consortium Messrs Novostal M and Proforce Manufacturing Limited to carry out the technical audit since September last year.
