There is strong indication that the Federal Government has stopped the payment of salaries of Federal Universities’ lecturers, who are yet to be on the platform of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).
PrimeStarNews gathered that while lecturers on this platform have been paid for the month of July, others, who are yet to be voluntarily captured are yet to be paid.
A lecturer in the University of Ibadan (UI), on IPPIS platform in the Faculty of Arts told the newspaper that he has received his July salary.
Several lecturers, who are not on the platform revealed that they are still awaiting July salary, adding that the government cannot force them into a platform that is not transparent.
Raising alarm over the development, an internal memo from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, dated July 24, 2020, stated, “To our greatest surprise, about 767 staff were removed from the July final payroll. Inquiries were made from the Desk officer as well as Assistant Director of IPPIS to get clarification. We were told that it was government directive that for salary to be paid, the academic staff must enroll formally to IPPIS. This can be done by individuals obtaining an introduction letter and report to Abuja for enrollment”.
