There was a fire outbreak at the Ikoyi Correctional Center in Lagos today, October 22, 2020.
Gunshots could be heard, and flame and thick smoke can be seen from the building.
In some video clips which was shared on social media by eyewitnesses, people can be seen running around. Soldiers were also seen in the area.
As at the time of this report, the cause of the fire is unknown.
The police PRO, Lagos state, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the cause of the fire could not yet be ascertained but policemen have been mobilised to the prison.
