The former Oyo State Commissioner of Health, Dr Azeez Adeduntan, yesterday revealed the reason why the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, on February 25, 2023, Presidential Election lose to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC).
Adeduntan said that Obi lost the election because it takes more than electoral value to win an election in Nigeria, stressing that no amount of votes can make a candidate win an election if there are no “people that can alter things for him”.
The surgeon-turned-politician stated, “Let me tell one thing to all Nigerian youths. Don’t think you are smart. Look at what happened to Obi, despite all the cries of Endsars and the clamour for the youth presidency, Obi failed woefully in the presidential election. What I found out about Nigeria and I am telling people all over the world that you cannot become a governor or president in Nigeria without having people that can alter things for you. That is what I have found out.”
Speaking on the forthcoming governorship election on a radio programme in Ibadan, Adeduntan said, “I want Seyi Makinde to win for Oyo State. He is the best among those who are milling themselves around who want to be governor of Oyo State at this time.
He pointed out that the gubernatorial candidate under the APC was best groomed for the seat of Senate President not the seat of the governor of a state.
