No fewer than four students residing at the Paris Quarters, behind the Federal University, Dutsinma, Katsina State, were abducted by suspected bandits in the early hours of Sunday.
According to a resident, the incident occurred at about 2:20 a.m. when armed hoodlums, wielding sophisticated weapons including AK-47 rifles, stormed the area in disguise and whisked away the victims.
Despite the swift response of security operatives to a distress call, the abductors had already fled the scene. Efforts are reportedly underway to track down the kidnappers and ensure the safe return of the victims.
As of press time, the Katsina State Police Command spokesman, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, and government officials were yet to respond to inquiries regarding the incident.
Dutsinma remains one of the frontline local government areas in Katsina State struggling with persistent insecurity, including banditry and cattle rustling, despite ongoing security and government interventions to restore peace.
Investigations and rescue operations are ongoing.
