The University of Ibadan (UI), has acceded to the proposal of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), to establish a Driver’s License Centre in the nation’s Premier University to cater for the large population of users within the University community and its environs.
The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Kayode Oyebode Adebowale, revealed this while paying a host to the FRSC Sector Commander in Oyo State Command, Corps Commander Uche Winifred Chukwurah, who paid him a courtesy visit to congratulate him on his appointment as the 13th UI VC.
As a way of fast tracking the process, the VC stated that an existing office location had been previously identified for the centre encouraging the FRSC state boss to visit the place for an on-the-spot assessment and indicate the needed facilities to put the place in operation as soon as the process is duly completed.
He lauded the commission for its efforts to making Nigerian highways safe for all road users as well as doing its best to reduce carnage on our highways.
He expressed his deep appreciation to the FRSC for the creation of Unit 47 of the Special Marshal Corps of which he is a member.
