Rose Christiane Raponda has been appointed as the first female Prime Minister in Gabon.
Raponda, who succeeds Julien Nkoghe Bekale, was appointed into the exalted position in accordance with a presidential decree read by the Secretary-General of the Presidency, Jean-Yves Teal.
The new PM, a holder of a degree in Economics (Public Finance) from the Gabonese Institute of Economy and Finance, and who is an astute Gabonese politician, was the country’s Defence Minister since February 2019 and had equally served as Mayor of Libreville.
She was Budget Minister between February 2012 and January 2014 and worked as Director General of the Economy and Deputy Director General of the Housing Bank of Gabon.
