Nana Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, has been elected as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) at the ongoing 57th ECOWAS Summit in Niamey, Republic of Niger.
The President stated on his twitter page, “On Monday, 7th September 2020, the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), took the decision to elect me, by unanimous vote, as Chairperson of ECOWAS for the next term of one year”.
He is taking over from the President of Niger, Mahamadou Issoufou.
