In an official statement, the family described Bolaji as a beloved father, husband, brother, ordained pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), and a towering figure in Nigeria’s gospel music scene.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bolaji Olarewaju, affectionately known as ‘Big B,’ a cherished father, husband, brother, and an esteemed figure in both the church community and the music industry,” the statement read.

“Bolaji’s life was a testament to his passion for music, his unwavering faith, and his dedication to uplifting those around him. His legacy is not only in the melodies he created but in the lives he touched and the unquantifiable joy he spread.”
The family noted they are consoled by the belief that Bolaji’s departure from this world signifies his presence with the Lord.

Big Bolaji, who only recently celebrated his 50th birthday, was known for his electrifying annual gospel concert Turn It Up With Big Bolaji, held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
An ordained minister and a certified estate surveyor, he hailed from Osun State but grew up in Ibadan, where his influence in gospel music and ministry flourished.
