Gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi has pleaded not guilty to the alleged murder of Salome Adaidu, a National Youth Service Corps member who was found dead at his residence weeks ago.
Ajayi was arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command on January 12 and charged with culpable homicide punishable by death.
He was arraigned before Justice Simeon Aboki at Court 2 in Lafia on Monday, where his plea was taken.
Police Legal Officer Stanley Nwaforagu expressed confidence in the evidence against Ajayi, stating, “We have overwhelming evidence to sustain the charge and are optimistic justice will be served.”
The trial is scheduled for March 17–20.
Ajayi’s counsel, Joseph Tukur, assured of a robust legal defense, emphasising his role in ensuring the prosecution meets the burden of proof.
