The Nasarawa Police Command has announced that it has formally charged 32-year-old Timilehin Ajayi who murdered his 24-year-old Corps Member, Miss Salome Adaidu with a knife in his house was charged to court today.
In a statement signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ramhan, the police stated, “In a recent development from Nasarawa State, the Police Command has formally charged 32-year-old Timilehin Ajayi with culpable homicide in connection with the tragic death of 24-year-old Corps Member, Miss Salome Adaidu. The charge, under section 221 of the penal code of Northern Nigeria, carries a potential death penalty.”
Ramhan confirmed that Ajayi was brought before the Nasarawa State High Court in Lafia on Friday adding, “The court remanded Ajayi in the Lafia Correctional Facility, awaiting his formal arraignment on a yet-to-be-scheduled date.”
The statement reads, “Ajayi was apprehended by police in Karu Local Government Area on Sunday, January 12, following the gruesome murder of Adaidu. This case has drawn significant attention due to the brutality of the crime and the involvement of a serving Corps Member.
“The community and the nation at large await further legal proceedings to bring justice for Salome Adaidu. As this story develops, the focus remains on ensuring a thorough investigation and a fair trial.”
