A 76 years old Prince, Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, who was the former Deputy Governor in Osun State under the administration of late Governor Isiaka Adeleke, has emerged as the new Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesha land, while Prince Johnson Adekanmi Abikoye also emerged as the new Asaoni of Ora Igbomina.
In a press statement issued by the Hon. Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, the Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has approved with immediate effect, the appointments of Haastrup and Prince Abikoye.
According to the statement, the approval of the two monarchs was ratified and approved during the seating of the Osun State Executive Council Meeting presided over by its Chairman and Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke.
The appointment of Prince Haastrup as the new Owa electa was a sequel to the demise of the immediate past Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesha land, Oba (Dr) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II on the 11th of September 2024 while that of Prince Abikoye as the new Asaoni of Ora Igbomina followed the demise of Oba Tinuoye Atolagbe on the 19th of Nov. 2023.
According to the statement, Governor Adeleke while congratulating the two newly approved monarchs, whom he claimed their choices followed due processes in line with the Chiefs’ law of Osun State 2002 (cap 25), enjoined all sons and daughters of the two towns to co-operate with their new traditional rulers, particularly in allowing peace and unity to take the centre stage.
Born on the 19th of September 1948, Prince Haastrup is a politician, technocrat, business mogul and a member of a royal family in Osun state.
He is the founder of the ENL Consortium Limited, which has since developed into a conglomerate. He has also chaired agencies such as the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation, and electoral committee for gubernatorial, Senatorial, and Representative Primary Elections, among others.
Prince Haastrup is a philanthropist with a foundation that has given education scholarships to over 500 students locally and internationally…his love for humanity has seen him empower many across the country and beyond through different projects and humanitarian initiatives.
