Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde on Thursday 13, 2020 declared that the remodelling of the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan was awarded at ₦5,580,001,151.62. to Messrs Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Ltd.
Governor Makinde disclosed this while flagging of the remodelling of the sport complex.
According to him, “The duration for the remodelling is 12 months. By which time COVID-19 will either be a part of history, or we will have adapted to living with the virus”, adding, “This project will be funded using the Alternate Project Funding Approach (APFA)”.
He further stated, “We look forward to returning to the stadium in a year and watching 3SC beat their opponents live. We also look forward to hosting world-class sporting events in the stadium and generating revenue from it”.
Explaining the reason why the state government is embarking on the project, Makinde explained, “Experts all over the world have predicted there will be a period economic hardship post Covid-19. In fact, if you have been following the news, you would have heard about the few countries that are already heading towards recession. So, this is the right time to make decision that will cushion the effect of the pandemic on our economy.
“We must double our efforts to put infrastructure in place that will support the growth of IGR in the state. And this is why we are here today to flag off the remodelling of Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan. This is another step in the right direction, positioning Oyo State to attract investments. I heard some people saying we should slow down. But I am here to tell you to tell them that this is not the time to slow down. This administration is here to grow Oyo State and to make sure everyone in our beloved state feel the real dividend of democracy”, he added.
