Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, and the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Debo Ogundoyin have cast their votes in the ongoing Local government election in the state.
While Makinde cast his vote at ward 11, unit 01 Ibadan North East local government area of the state, Ogundoyin exercise his francise at ward 2, polling unit 5, Anko Area of Eruwa.
Speaking after voting, the governor urged residents to come out and cast their votes for candidates of their choices at the ongoing local government elections in the state assuring that the process would be transparent.
Confirmed that with security and situation reports at his disposal, the process had been hitch free at the time of casting his vote, the governor assured that his administration remained committed to sustaining democratic values at the grassroot through transparent local government elections, which he believed would engender growth and development in the state.
The Speaker of the state also said, “I joined eligible voters at Ward 2, Polling unit 5, Anko area of Eruwa this morning to cast my vote in the Local Government election held throughout Oyo State. Voting is an important part of democracy, and one of the most basic civic duties of a citizen which must be taken seriously. While addressing Gentlemen of the Press, I commended the election umpires for the smooth conduct of the election. I also appreciated our people for coming out to exercise their franchise and for conducting themselves peacefully. This, I noted was a good omen for the entrenchment of a sound democratic ideal in Nigeria.”
