Despite agitation by Nigerians for the replacement of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu, who was due for retirement from the Nigeria Police Force on Monday February 1, 2021, having spent the maximum 35 years in service, President Muhammadu Buhari has extended the tenure of the police boss by three months.
The Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammad Dingyadi, announced the extension of the tenure today at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Minister said the extension was necessary to give room for the proper selection of a successor.
