The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, has expressed sadness over the death of Cote d’Ivoire’s Prime Minister, Amadou Gon Coulibaly.
Expressing shock at the sudden demise of the Prime Minister, Georgieva on her Twitter Page said, “I am very saddened to learn of the sudden passing of PM Amadou Gon Coulibaly. Côte d’Ivoire losses an important policy leader who worked tirelessly to promote peace and prosperity for the Ivoiren people. IMF stands ready to support the Ivoirien authorities in these difficult times”.
Coulibaly, 61, who died on Wednesday July 8, 2020, had been chosen to run as the ruling party’s candidate in this year’s October presidential election.
He had only recently returned from a two-month stay in France where he had been undergoing health check-ups.
