At the ongoing 2023 Governorship and State Assembly Election, the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), have informed the intending voters in Lagos State that the results of the election would not be uploaded at the polling units, telling them to make up their minds if they want to vote or not.
The intending voters were surprised at the announcement, which contradict the assurance of INEC that all results would be uploaded immediately after the announcement of results.
One of the INEC staff at Olaiya/Idahosa polling Unit 059, code number 24-20-02-059 in Surulere, Lagos said they would not upload the result from the centre.
Another agent in Lagos addressed the intending voters saying, “We are not uploading results here. If want us to vote, we will start voting now but if you don’t want to vote, there is no problem. The agents of all the political parties are aware of this. We are not uploading.”
As a result of this announcement, some of the voters left the polling unit without voting saying that they would not want to cast their votes that would count.
