Itunu Babalola, a Cote d’Ivoire-based Nigerian trader, who died in Cote d’Ivoire prison on November 15, 2021, will be buried at Sango Cemetery, Ibadan capital of Oyo State.
Itunu, daughter of a cameraman, Abayomi Williams Babalola, working at University Media Centre (UMC), University of Ibadan (UI), was wrongly accused of human trafficking in Cote d’Ivoire leading to her being sentenced to 20 years imprisonment. The jail term was later reduced to 10, out of which she had spent two years before her death.
According to an impeccable source, the body of the deceased would be flown to Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on Friday night.
The body will depart Lagos very early on Saturday and it will be taken to the burial ground in Ibadan, where funeral service will be held before it is properly buried.
PrimeStarNews gathered that the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians In Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, facilitated the transporting of the corpse to Nigeria. It was further gathered that the burial expenses will be borne by the Federal Government.
