Fifty-seven-year-old journalist James Azania, from Oro in Kwara State, has raised the alarm that his wife, Uchenna Azania, who hails from Ehime Mbano in Imo State, has absconded with their four children.
The names of the children are Joseph (Jojo), James, Athena (Ana), and Anastasia.
In an exclusive interview with Punch newspaper, Azania stated that they officially got married in 2008, noting that his wife will turn 50 this year.
He said they wedded at the registry in Ikoyi, Lagos, adding, “We did the ceremony in their house; that was in Ajegunle, on Oko Babasule Street. Even her father, who died that same year, was there. Her mother and all of them attended Saint Mary Catholic Church in Ajegunle.”
Azania explained that while his family settled in Lagos, he was working for a newspaper in Lokoja, Kogi State, and would occasionally visit them. He said he sent money to his wife for Christmas in December 2019, not knowing that she had already absconded from their Ajegunle residence.
“I was still sending money for Christmas and New Year until January 4, 2020, when I decided to travel down to Lagos for the New Year,” he revealed.
He alleged that the absconding with his children was a conspiracy executed by his wife with the support of her parents and other family members.
According to him, his efforts to retrieve his children have proved abortive, as his wife demanded that he must buy her a good car before he could have access to them. He stressed, “She started saying that if I wanted to see my children, I would have to buy a car and some other things.”
“The last time I saw them, Jojo, the eldest child, was 12 years old. By October 21, 2025, he will be 17 years old. I last saw them when I went to Lagos in September 2019. The children’s names are Jojo — that’s Joseph Chinedu Azania — and the second child takes after my name, James,” he added.
