Gbenro Adesina
A Briton, David Roger Jowitt, a professor of English Language, who has been residing in Nigeria for the past 48 years and currently lecturing at University of Jos (UNIJOS), is among the eight members of the Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL), who have just been admitted into the College of Fellows of the Academy (Year 2020).
According to a statement from the Secretary of the Association, Professor Kehinde Ayobami, the admission followed their elections on Thursday January 21, 2021, in recognition of their contributions to knowledge in their various fields of specialization.
The list of the members are: David Roger Jowitt (English Language – Regular Fellow), Prof. Abayomi Akinyeye, (History – Regular Fellow), Prof. Andrew Haruna (Linguistics – Regular Fellow), Prof. Olusegun Adesina Adekoya (Literature – Regular Fellow) and Prof. Justus Obi Joseph Nwachukwu-Agbada (Literature – Regular Fellow).
Others are: Prof. Mabel Itohanosa Erioyunvwen Evwierhoma (Theatre Arts – Regular Fellow), Prof. Simeon Olusegun Ilesanmi (Religious Studies – Overseas Fellow) and Prof. Imelda Icheji Lawrence Udoh (Linguistics – Regular Fellow).
