The Kaduna State Police Command has paraded about 580 suspects arrested over their involvement in various crimes, rescuing about 30 kidnapped victims, and the recovery of stolen property and illegal weapons across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, revealed this today at a press briefing held its command’s headquarters in Kaduna.
According to him, these achievements were recorded between December 31, 2024, and January 2025.
Rabiu emphasised that the command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, attributing the success to strategic collaborations with other security agencies and proactive community engagement.
“We have been working closely with the community and other security agencies to make Kaduna State safer for all residents,” he said.
Among the notable arrests, the CP highlighted is the capture of two notorious informants, Inusa Ibrahim and Hamisu Musa, who were caught communicating with suspected bandits, providing them with names of potential kidnapping targets.
Additionally, two motorcycle thieves, Ibrahim Abubakar and Surakatu Usman, who used sledgehammers to attack victims and steal motorcycles, were arrested. The police also recovered 16 motorcycles, three tricycles, and arrested their receiver, Yahya Muhammad.
Rabiu further revealed that 23 kidnapped victims were rescued from armed bandits in Kajuru Local Government Area and safely reunited with their families.
He commended his officers for their relentless efforts and acknowledged the support of law-abiding residents and other security stakeholders in the state. saying, “The success of our operations is a testament to the dedication of our officers and the invaluable cooperation of the public.”
Warning criminals that Kaduna is no longer a safe haven, he urged residents to remain law-abiding and support law enforcement by providing timely and credible information adding, “Security is a collective responsibility. Together, we can build a safer and more peaceful Kaduna State.”
The commissioner expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police for his confidence in his leadership and acknowledged Governor Uba Sani for his continuous logistical and moral support to the command.
Providing a breakdown of the arrests, Rabiu revealed that the command apprehended:
- 20 suspected kidnappers
- 320 suspected phone snatchers
- 32 suspected armed robbers
- 5 car thieves
- 13 motorcycle snatchers
- 10 rape suspects
- 23 receivers of stolen goods
Recovered items included:
- 34 stolen motorcycles
- 10 stolen motor vehicles
- 1 submachine gun
- 4 AK-47 rifles
- 2 pistols
- 28 rounds of live ammunition with 5 magazines
- 52 rustled cows
- 4 sledgehammers
- 20 bags of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana
