Kano State Police Command has arraigned Ado Lawan, 43, and Lawan Ibrahim, 34 before Chief Magistrate Muhammad Jibril for allegedly committing adultery.
The police slammed two counts of criminal conspiracy and adultery on the two suspects living at Yakasai Quarters Kano.
The Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Pogu Lale, who informed the court that Haruna Isa of Rijiyar Lemo Quarters Kano, reported the case of adultery at Market Police Division Kano, on August 4, 2020, said that in March, the defendants conspired among themselves and took the complainant’s 17-year-old daughter into a room situated at Yakasai Quarters Kano and had canal knowledge of her.
Lale said that as a result of the sexual intercourse, the girl, who is a minor, became pregnant pointing out that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 97 and 387 of the Penal Code.
However, the defendants, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Sequel to this, Chief Magistrate Jibril, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N50, 000 each and two reliable sureties in like sum and ordered that one of the sureties must be a Ward Head and the second surety must be a blood relation.
He equally ruled that the sureties must submit a copy of their recent passport photographs and means of identification.
He adjourned the case to September 17, 2020 for hearing.
