A female non-teaching staff of the Federal College of Education, Pankshin, in Plateau State, identified as Mrs Homsuk, who was kidnapped by Fulani terrorists on the midnight of Friday June 24, 2022, has been released after an undisclosed amount was paid as ransom.
The woman, whose husband is a staff of the Public Relations Unit of the College. was released yesterday after spending six days with the terrorists in the bush.
According to information gathered, the terrorists had stormed the official residence of the institution’s Registrar, Mrs Nna Homsuk Elizabeth to kidnap her but she was not at home.
They then went to the boys’ quarters of the house occupied by her brother who was not at home and went away with his wife.
A reliable source revealed, “When they arrived, they went to the main building to kidnap the registrar and her family members but they did not meet anybody at the main building. After this, they went to the boy’s quarter and there they met this woman and took her away. It happened at the midnight on Friday. Since then, the woman was with the terrorists until yesterday, Thursday, June 30, 2022, when they released her.”
Investigation revealed that the kidnappers contacted the family members the following day of the kidnapping and demanded fifty million naira (N50m).
“The family begged them to reduce the amount because it was too much and they could not raise it. The kidnappers later reduced the money to N20million”, our source stated.
