There is a report of massive turnout in Nigeria in the ongoing 2023 Presidential and National Assembly election. However, there are reports of logistic problems, election malpractices and the militarisation of the election.
Among the problems reported is the arrival of INEC officials at some polling units across the country. For instance, in Lagos State, INEC staff arrived late at FESTAC area, and some of them were stranded at Ikeja area because of lack of logistics to convey them to their designated polling units in Opebi/Wasimi.
Also, in the early hours of today, those who registered to vote at the Lagos State University, Lagos were locked out as the gate was under lock and key
In Alaba Market, the electorate were shocked to see heavily armed military men in amoured tank invading the polling units for show of strength.
Also, election materials arrived late to some polling units in Obio Akpor, Port Harcourt, River State.
In Kano, children and underage people were seeing on the queue preparing to cast their votes.
In Ondo State, All Progressive Congress (APC) is alleged to have been seen sharing dollars in Irele local government of Ondo State as it is equally stated that APC agents are in villages sharing money to buy votes.
Also, pandemonium was recorded at Uli ward 2 located at Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra as gunmen were said to have invaded the polling area, shooting indiscriminately and voters fled.
In the same vein, in Anyingba Area of Kogi State, an unidentified man was seen carting a ballot box away, while one of the ballot box box snatcher was killed.
