The rumour that all is not well between Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and his Deputy, Engr Rauf Olaniyan has been confirmed to be true as the governor has dropped his deputy for his second term ambition, replacing him with Barrister Bayo Lawal, the Chairman of the State Housing Corporation.
Lawals hail from Kishi town in Irepo local government area of the State and formerly served under the administration of Alhaji Lam Adesina, former governor of Oyo State between 1999 and 2003.
It would be recalled that the governor and his deputy had not been on good terms in the recent past.
Olaniyan who noted that he had been sidelined by his boss, said he had not been involved in the “selection” of PDP candidates for the 2023 elections in the state.
He stated that the rumours surrounding his defection to another party were spreading like wildfire because he had stayed aloof.
