A former Minister of Communications of Nigeria, Barrister Adebayo Shittu has called out Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, describing him as a hypocrite and a betrayal.
Shittu accused Makinde of betraying him and frustrating his effort of establishing an ICT University, explaining that Makinde convinced him to establish his ICT University in Oyo State instead of Abuja.
According to him, after promising to provide land for the ICT University in Oyo State, he gave the document containing the idea of ICT University of which Makinde is using to establish ICT Polytechnic in his Ajia Village.
Shittu said though Makinde gave him a cash gift of N1million, Makinde discouraged the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from donating towards the university project earlier promised.
Shittu accused Makinde, “Makinde told me not to establish ICT University in Abuja. He promised to give us land in Oyo State. As a result, I handed over the document from the university to him. Makinde used this document to get approval from his cabinet to establish the ICT Polytechnic in Ajia, his town in Ibadan. Up till now, he has not given the land he promised. When I went to him to remind him, he said I should not worry and that I should see him in the office next Friday, He gave me N1 million that day, and after that, he has not made himself available to him again. Well, I have handed him over to God.”
Shittu reiterated that he reported Makinde to 10 chieftains of his party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including Hon Taofeeek Arapaja, and Dr Saka Balogun for intervention to no avail.
