Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Friday, March 31, 2023, announced the renaming of the First Technical University, Ibadan, after Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
The University formerly known as First Technical University will now be known as Senator Abiola Ajimobi First Technical University.
Makinde made this disclosure at the 2nd convocation ceremony held at Tech-U Library Hall.
The Oyo State Government, under the leadership of the Former Governor, the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi established the institution in 2012.
The institution is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the metropolis of Ibadan (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants).
Officially recognized by the National Universities Commission of Nigeria, the university is a coeducational Nigerian higher education institution.
It offers courses and programmes leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor’s degrees in several areas of study.
