A middle age man, identified as Taoreed Alao, was on Monday August 24 2020, shot dead by armed robbers around Secretariat-Government House Road, Agodi, Ibadan, capital of Oyo State.
According to sources, around 1.20 pm, the man, who was coming from Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) in Bodija after he had gone to make some huge withdrawals, noticed he was being trailed, and swiftly turned into the Secretariat to Government House road.
However, the two armed robbers on a motorcycle overtook the victim’s motorcycle opposite the Oyo State Environmental Task Force office, shot him and escaped with the victim’s Bajaj motorcycle and the money.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Olugbenga Fadeyi, said the victim was shot twice, adding that unconfirmed amount of money the deceased went to collect at the bank was stolen, alongside his Bajaj motorcycle.
Fadeyi further stated that Alao was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead. He said his remains have been deposited at the hospital’s morgue.
The police spokesperson assured that the police are already on the trail of the assailants.
According to some sources, two withdrawals slips of N150,000 and N296,000 respectively were seen at the scene of the incident.
