Tragedy struck in Edo State as a 38-year-old woman, Success Izekor, was allegedly murdered by her husband, Kelvin Izekor in Benin City. The shocking incident, which has left the local community in disbelief, occurred on the night of February 22, 2025.
According to an anonymous resident, the news came as a horrific surprise. “I can’t believe what I saw. Imagine being killed by your own husband. They were newlyweds, and nobody would have expected the woman to suffer such a fate.”
The Edo State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that officers from the Aduwawa Division responded to a distress call at approximately 10:00 PM. Spokesperson Moses Yamu detailed the grim scene, explaining that the police discovered Success Izekor’s lifeless body in a pool of blood, bearing deep wounds on her head.
Adding to the intensity of the situation, a mob had gathered with the intent to lynch Kelvin Izekor. Law enforcement officers swiftly intervened, rescuing the suspect and taking him into custody for further investigation. The victim was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
State Commissioner of Police Betty Otimenyin strongly condemned the rising cases of domestic violence and assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted. “Whoever is found culpable will face the full weight of the law,” Yamu emphasized.
