A Nigerian-American economist and international development expert, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on Monday February 15, 2021, was selected to be the next Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
According to the information gathered, the Okonjo-Iweala was selected at a closed-door meeting held today by the decision making body of the organisation.
It was further gathered that all members of the WTO’s top decision-making body, the General Council, agreed on her appointment in a virtual meeting.
Okonjo was the a former Minister of Finance in Nigeria.
