The Nigeria Police Force today dismissed a corrupt police inspector, Richard Gele with force, AP/No. 188547, for extorting, dignifying and justifying extortion in the open.
Gele, until his dismissal, was attached to Police Mobile Force 77 Squadron, Okene, Kogi State. Gele, an indigene of Benue State was The dismissed Inspector, who hails from Benue State and was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force in September 2000.
He was seen in a video, which has gone viral, boasting at the Itobe–Anyigba Road, where he was posted for the maintenance of law and order as well as protection of Nigerians publicly negotiating for bribes and stating that the road is his market.
The inspector has been de-kitted and handed over to the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State, for further necessary action.
Addressing the media, the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi said his dismissal came after his subjection to an internal disciplinary mechanism and being found wanting of the charges levelled against him in line with extant laws governing the conduct of police personnel.
According to him, “He, therefore, ceases to be a member of the Nigeria Police Force with immediate effect. The officer has been de-kitted and handed over to the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State, for further necessary action.”
