The Nigeria Police Force has successfully freed 21 kidnapped individuals and recovered N4.8 million in ransom money during a series of strategic operations across Taraba and Kano states. These efforts also led to the seizure of firearms and ammunition, as well as the arrest of six suspects linked to kidnapping, armed robbery, and illegal weapons possession. According to a statement issued on Monday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Nigeria Police Force remains unwavering in its mission to dismantle criminal syndicates that pose a threat to national security.

A key operation unfolded in Taraba State, where police personnel from the State Command, working alongside other security agencies, successfully freed 20 kidnapped victims along the Takum/Mararaba road.
“The rescue mission, carried out on March 29, 2025, in Muji Town, followed an intense firefight between security operatives and the kidnappers. The criminals fled, abandoning their captives and vehicles. Two of the rescued victims who sustained injuries are currently receiving medical treatment,” Adejobi disclosed.
Kidnapping Ring Crushed in Kano
In another significant breakthrough, the Kano State Anti-Kidnapping Squad dismantled a syndicate responsible for the abduction of Dr. Muhammad Bello Yushau on March 8, 2025.
“After a thorough investigation, law enforcement agents apprehended five suspects—Tukur Lawal (alias Maikudi), Ado Usman, Sanusi Surajo, Habiba Shuaibu, and Ummulkhairi Ibrahim—on March 18 and 19,” Adejobi stated. “During the raid, authorities confiscated a locally manufactured rifle and N4.84 million, suspected to be ransom money. The victim was safely rescued and reunited with his family.”

Further reinforcing the police’s resolve, the Special Tactical Squad (STS) in Taraba State arrested Kafinta Musa for armed robbery, kidnapping, and illegal firearms possession. “An AK49 rifle loaded with five rounds of live ammunition was recovered from him,” Adejobi confirmed.
