Some Nollywood members, led by Dele Odule, yesterday paid a visit to Agodi Prison to check on the incarcerated Olori Naomi Silekunola, the ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi, Ojaja II; Oriyomi Hamzat, the owner of the Ibadan-based Agidigbo Radio Station; and Abdullahi Mfasasi, the Principal of Islamic High School, Basorun.
Also in the entourage were the governor of the Oyo State chapter of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, actress Bose Akinola; actor Adewale Abdulrasak Sokoti; Alhaji Babatunde Bamgbode, popularly known as Fokoko; and Kayode Olaiya, alias Aderupoko, among others.
The incarceration of Naomi, Hamzat, and Mfasasi stemmed from the loss of 35 lives at Naomi’s annual food distribution programme for about 5,000 underprivileged children in Ibadan.
While Naomi was the organiser of the event, Oriyomi assisted her in the planning, and Mfasasi was the principal of the school where the event was held.
The Nollywood actors and actress expressed their sadness over the incarceration, hoping that the trio would regain their freedom soon.
