Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested five suspects for alleged vandalising railway installations in Lafia, the state’s capital.
Briefing newsmen in Lafia, The Public Relations Officer of NSCDC in the state, Muhammed Suraju Idris
Muhammed stated that the suspects were arrested along the Barkin Abdullahi village, near Lafia railway track, while loading the vandalised rail line facilities in two vehicles.
He noted that case of vandalising public property especially the rail lines in the state had been a recurrent trend and called on perpetrators of the act to desist or face the wrath of the law.
One of the suspects, Agbo Edwin, who identified himself as staff of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, said he was conveying the equipment for safe keep but regretted not informing his office before taking such decision.
Items recovered from the suspects were over 20 rail line slippers, nuts and bolts.
