The National Universities Commission (NUC) has transferred the ownership of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology LAUTECH, Ogbomoso to the Oyo State Government while the Osun state Government is to take over the College of Health Sciences in Osogbo.
The resolution followed the lingering crisis over ownership of LAUTECH over the years.
The Executive Secretary of the NUC, Professor Abubakar Rasheed who made this known at a media briefing in Abuja on Friday, said both Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to the development.
The NUC boss expressed optimism that the new arrangement would restore peace to LAUTECH.
Vice-Chancellor LAUTECH, Professor Michael Olufisayo Ologunde, has called on staff and students of the Institution to maintain peace in the aftermath of ceding the University to Oyo State.
While reviewing the situation which he said was inevitable and long overdue, he explained that the sacrifices from the two former owners will only make meaning if development begins to creep in.
He reminded stakeholders that they were brothers and should not allow ephemeral things pull them apart.
While thanking Governors Gboyega Oyetola of Osun and his counterpart in Oyo, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for putting the people first in their consideration, he call on other stakeholders to be affectionate towards each other so that the activities of the University can go on smoothly.
