In his continued efforts to complement the government’s fight against Coronavirus pandemic, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has donated four of his locally fabricated motorised modular fumigators to the Nigerian Army and Enugu State Government.
While presenting the fumigators at the Enugu government House, Princess Fadekemi Fadojutimi, who is the Secretary of the Ooni Covid-19 Committee said that the Ooni’s decision to donate the fumigators was borne out of his selfless service for the country.
Fadojutimi stressed on the reality of Covid-19 and maintained that the Ooni of Ife is committed to joining hands with the government to fight the pandemic.
She also revealed that the equipment was locally produced in the monarch’s palace adding that the chemical used in the fabrication of the fumigators were friendly and not harmful to human beings.
“With this equipment, we can fumigate markets or other public areas where people gather. We also have a drone that covers above the normal surface. The chemical, like I said, is body friendly. It is a solution that was mixed with sodium and hydrochloride. So it is not harmful to the body”, she said.
Responding, Governor Ugwuanyi, who was represented by his deputy, Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, commended the monarch for the gesture and his steadfastness in thinking outside the box to proffer ideas on how to fight the pandemic in the country.
She pointed out that the invention would not only assist in containing the spread of the virus, it would also create employment for Nigerians adding, “We cannot thank him enough. We pray for him and wholeheartedly accept these donations”.
Earlier, the foremost monarch had donated two motorised modular fumigators to the 2nd Div. of the Nigeria Army.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Maj.Gen. Anthony Omozoje led by the Olowu of Owu-Kuta, HRM, Oba Oyelude Makama received the fumigator at the Ooni’s palace.
Oba Ogunwusi, in his speech, reaffirmed his trust and confidence in the leadership of Lt. Gen. Buratai as the Chief of Army Staff, reiterating optimistism that the Nigerian Army would win the war against insurgency and terrorists in the country.
