Shortly after Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, Ige Olakulehin 1, was crowned today as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde presented staff and instrument of office to the new monarch.
The crowning was held at the Labosinde compound in the ancient city of Ibadan – the family whose right is to crown any Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Makinde made the presentation of staff of office around 2:45pm at Mapo Hall in the presence of eminent Nigerians including Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, former Oyo State Governor and member of the Olubadan-in-Council, Rashidi Ladoja; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar; former Senate Leader, Teslim Folarin, among others.
The Governor stated, “It was my honour to present the Certificate of Instrument of Office and Symbol of Authority to Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, Ige Olakulehin I, the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland. Our prayer is that Kabiyesi’s reign will be long, peaceful and prosperous.”

While making the presentation, Makinde made a frantic effort to denounce the allegation that he was working towards preventing the installation of the new Olubadan saying, “They said they want to sabotage, they want to sabotage. We are here today at Mapo Hall. I, Engineer Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, by the virtue of power conferred on me, hereby present the staff of office to the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland. Let us say Kabiyesi.”
Also at the occasion are the Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu who represented President Bola Tinubu, Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal, Ondo State Governor, represented by his deputy, Olaide Adelami, Osun state Governor represented by his deputy, Hon Gbenga Adewusi, Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, Aseyin of Iseyin,Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola, PDP Deputy National Chiarman (South), Ambassador Taofik Arapaja, Oyo State former Deputy Governor, Barrister Hazeem Gbolarunmi, Professor Soji Adejumo, Elder Wole Oyelese, Chief Mrs Mutiat Ladoja, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, Hon Dhikrulahi Olajide, Hon Abass Adigun, the Babaloja General of Oyo State Alhaji Yekini Abass, Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo, Kwara and Delta, and Alhaji Dawud Makanjuola among others.
