Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has described the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Ajeogungunniso 1, as a paramount ruler, who lived for the service of humanity during his life and times.
Obasanjo, who paid a condolence visit to the monarch’s palace at Popoyemoja Area of Ibadan remarked that the late Olubadan lived for the service of family, community, state and the nation stressing, “the late royal father served community and God granted him longevity”.
Also, the National President, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Francis Wale Oke, noted that Oba Adetunji was a peace-loving king, who earned victory over many battles of live because God was with him.
Other eminent Nigerians who have paid condolence visits to the palace include Deputy National Chairman, South of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Taofeek Arapaja, former Senate Leader, Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin, members of House of Representatives, Honourables Akin Alabi, Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, Prince Akeem Adeyemi, Princess Taibat Adeyemi Agah, Oke Ogun Obas such as Onigboho, Alamodu of Ago Amodu, Alagere of Ofiki land, Onibasi of Basi land, and representatives of Soun-in-Council from Ogbomosoland.
Meanwhile the activities marking the exit of Olubadan continue on Saturday when traditionalists would be at Popoyemoja at 11.00 am to offer prayers. On Sunday at 10.00 a, Muslims are expected to offer 8 day fidau prayer for the repose of Olubadan at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, while Christian service would hold at 4.00 pm at the same venue.
