The Ogun State Government has expressed its readiness to host the 21st edition of the National Sports Festival in 2022, if awarded the hosting right.
Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr Oluwadare Kehinde, gave the assurance during a visit by members of the Evaluation Bid Committee of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, who was in the state to inspect sporting facilities in the state.
Kehinde, who took the committee round sporting facilities in Abeokuta, Sagamu and Ijebu-Ode, pointed out that the state was adequately prepared to host the biennial competition, saying that the present administration remains passionate about sport development and would leave no stone unturned to ensure a successful hosting.
Facilities inspected include the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Sports Club, Alake Sports Centre, June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta Grammar School, Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu, NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Sagamu and Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu-Ode.
Shortly after the inspection, the Chairman and leader of the Committee, Mr Katmwan Dungse, expressed his satisfaction about the sporting facilities in the state saying that the state stands a better chance of hosting the festival in 2022.
