Ogun State Government has celebrated the oldest woman in the state, Chief Mrs Sinatu Aduke Sanni, popularly known as Iya Olumo (mother goddess of the rock).
According to the state, the oldest woman in state turned 137 years on August 15, 2021. “Iya Orisa Olumo” literally means “Mother of goddess of the rock” was born in the late 19th century, 1884.
She is in charge of Olumo Rock Shrine, where sacrifices are made to appeal to the gods of the rock.
She has lived her entire life under the famous Olumo Rock, which is one of the major tourist attractions in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.
On the record, she has also witnessed the coronation of six Alake of Egbaland.
