The two contestants that have emerged for the position of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Admin) of the University of Ibadan (UI) are Professor Olusiyi Ipingbemi, the Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Science, and Professor Peter Olamakinde Olapegba, former Dean of the Faculty of The Social Sciences.
The contest is a pointer to the fact that the current occupant of the office, Professor Ezekiel Olusola Ayoola will not be returning for a second term in office as his tenure expires, unlike his colleagues, Prof. Aderonke Mojisola Baiyeroju, DVC, Academic and Professor Oluyemisi A. Bamgbose, (SAN), DVC, Research Innovation and Strategic Partnership (RISP), whose second terms in office will be put up for ratification during a Senate meeting.
Both the soft and hard copy posters of the two contestants nominated by the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale are currently circulating on campus and on the social media.
However, fillers on campus have revealed that the contest may be a work over for Olapegba, a member of the Premier University’s Governing Council and the pioneer Director of the University Alumni Office, who enjoys the support of the current authority of the institution.
