Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has donated N40 million along with various food items to victims of a tanker explosion in Majiya village of Jigawa State.
The donation was presented on her behalf by a delegation led by Wife of the Speaker, House of Representatives, Hajia Fatima Tajudeen Abbass at the Government House Dutse.
According to a statement signed by the Senior Special Adviser to the First Lady, Busola Kukoyi, handing over the cheque and food items to the Wife of the State Governor, Hadiza Umar Namadi, Tinubu said the plight of the victims is of great concern to her, and assured the state government of continued support and prayers.
Receiving the commiseration and donations from the First Lady with thanks, Governor of Jigawa State, Mallam Umar Namadi assured the delegation that the donation would be judiciously deployed to cater for the victims.
Also appreciating the President for his prompt and fatherly response to the disaster in the state, the governor disclosed that some of the victims are already getting better under medical care
While noting that the tanker explosion was a sad episode for the state, the wife of the governor who received the items on behalf of the state government described the gesture as a show of motherly love, unity and solidarity.
The delegation was earlier at the Rasheed Shekoni Federal University Teaching Hospital, Dutse, where some of the victims are currently receiving medical attention.
In another development, the Renewed Hope Initiative led by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu today distributed1,200 bags of rice to vulnerable people in the Eastern part of Nigeria.
Revealing on her X page, Oluremi Tinubu’s spokesperson, Busola Kukoyi said that the rice bags of rice were distributed in 326 wards in Anambra State.
The reason for the distribution of the bags of rice was to cushion the effects of economic hardship.
