A truck conveying 13 male Hausa youth coming from Osun State and travelling through Ondo State, has been intercepted by the Ondo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Akure, the State capital.
The State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Rotimi Adeleye, said the vehicle contained about 13 persons, mainly Hausa children, which the driver of the vehicle claimed to have picked on his way from Ibadan, Oyo State..
According to him, the patrol team of the Command had promptly responded to an alarm by a member of the public and intercepted the truck at the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) junction.
“Our patrol team intercepted a truck conveying about 13 children from outside the State into Akure, the capital of Ondo state.
“The driver of the vehicle claimed to have picked the boys suspected to be of Northern extraction on his way from Ibadan, Oyo State,” Adeleye said.
Adeleye said the boys have been handed over to the State Police Command and task force on COVID-19.
Special Adviser to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on Security Matters, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo, who confirmed the incident, said the illegal travelers have been escorted back to Osun State.
