The former Vice Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Professor Wale Are Olaitan has died at the age 60. He was a Vice chancellor of the state institution between 2009 and 2013.
According to a statement from the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the deceased, who was born in September 1964, died of a liver-related disease.
The deceased, who was described as a renowned academic and an administrator, was an elder brother of the Oyo State Correspondent of ThisDay Newspaper, Kemi Olaitan.
Pointing out that his contributions to the field of education and academic leadership are invaluable, the statement noted that his death has left a vacuum in the academic community, and he would be deeply missed by his colleagues, students, and family.
