The Orangun of Ila in Osun, Oba Wahab Oyedotun has exhibited his anger against the non-native farmers in the town who sued the Federal Government for using their land to construct Police Mobile College, warning them to leave the town if they were not ready to withdraw the suit with immediate effect.
Stating this today in a press conference organised by some monarchs, which was held in Ila-Orangun in Osun State, Oyedokun said that the land under dispute was given to the government free for the purpose of constructing Police College.
Oyedokun lamented that it was unthinkable that while native farmers freely gave the needed land to the government for the construction of the college, which would enhance security of the town and the environ, about 600 non-indigene farmers instituted a court case demanding for compensation.
He said, “We are aware of the fact that some people, numbering about 600, presented themselves as new claimants for additional compensation in court. We dissociate ourselves from these claims and Ila-Orangun indigenes see actions of the alleged farmers as intentionally calculated to forestall the economic development of the town and scare away potential investors. We use this opportunity to inform all non-natives, who are in court to withdraw their suit against the government, otherwise, we will have no alternative than to evict them from our land, as their holdings on our land are not in perpetuity. Any none-native, who cannot abide by our decision, is free to leave our town or be ready to be declared enemy of the town”.
Oba Oyedotun, who noted that the land was given free to the claimants by the community, said there was no need for them to be making claims from government, lamenting that the farmers rejected the money contributed by the community which was given to them.
